As with all controls do not mount them on the boiler cabinet as this can risk damage from heat and water.
Be sure to place the sensors for heat and hot water maintenance as close to the boiler out pipes source at the boiler. This will allow the quickest and most accurate boiler temperate readings. For most hot water heating systems, the best location will be on the top of the boiler at the nearest point to the boiler itself on the hot water supply piping to the zones.
For domestic hot water tankless coils and indirect tanks, a second sensor placement should be on the hot pipe as the hot water supply to the indirect tank leaves the boiler. The sensor should pick up the supply temperature from the boiler.
For hot water storage with coils in them (Indirect), the sensor can be positioned where the hot water leaves the boiler. This will avoid the overheating of the boiler when the hot water is not used.
All piping and sensors should be insulated with insulation to guard against heat loss and to maintain accurate temperatures to the sensors, and avoid piping heat loss.
Make sure to confirm temperature sensor reading by using the laptop menu mode to check that temperatures are within range and all menu settings are correct for the installation. Customers should be aware that annual service calls should be made to check for good operation. Often boiler cleaners and oil service techs shut off the controls as a precaution, then forget to turn the control back on when finished with service chores. Other services should be cautioned to call for service if the system has to be disturbed for boiler change out or other modifications. Make sure to inform the customer of the ON/Off switch and what it does for them. Also make sure to affix your service label to the control so everyone knows who to call Leave instructions for service persons and owners to review.
